"Odds are about even that he won't come back at all. Despite being the first Slayer he's come up against he hasn't--defeated, Drusilla won't like it if he keeps focusing on you. And above anything else, Spike lives to make Dru happy. If she says to leave you alone, he will." And if she says to kill her... well, he doubts that. Dru has the attention span of a gnat, and them leaving in the first place shows Dru isn't fixated on Buffy like Spike is. If anything, Dru will want to come back for him, which Spike won't want. Hopefully the two of them can convince each other to leave both Buffy and himself alone.
"Distraction?" he murmurs as a nicer alternative. The phrase unwitting bait comes to mind, but he's sure Buffy wouldn't appreciate that. "Maybe they could train with that fancy crossbow Giles doesn't want you to use," Angel teases lightly. And then quickly reconsiders "Maybe Willow could train with it." There is absolutely no way he wants Xander picking that thing up while Buffy's in the vicinity, let alone Angel as well. Oz might be alright, but he's witnessed him practicing on the guitar, and his fine motor functions leave something to be desired at times.
Angel's smile at her gentle mocking is self-deprecating, but amused. "Yeah, well. When are you gonna realize I'm not actually as suave as I try to appear? Plus, you did take me by surprise."
